It’s just a ten-minute drive from Arrecife Airport to Puerto Del Carmen. It’s a very large resort, but also very central for getting to other parts of Lanzarote.
History
Initially a small fishing village, the old town and harbour are still intact and form the central part of the resort.
The resort has grown radically since the 1960’s when Hotel Fariones and Hotel San Antonio were built.
The name of the village honours the Virgen del Carmen (our lady of Carmen), the patron saint of sailors. The Feast day of Virgen del Carmen is celebrated with a maritime procession.
Beaches
There are over 6km of golden beaches along the Puerto Del Carmen coast. All carry the Blue Flag awarded by the EEC for cleanliness.
The waters surrounding the eastern-coast of Lanzarote are some of the most tranquil in the Canary Islands.

Puerto Del Carmen has a number of diving and windsurfling schools, swimming, cycling and running are also popular, with many hire shops for cycles.
The Lanzarote IronMan triathlon, a major international athletics event, both start and end on Avenida de Las Playas.
Shopping
There are a wealth of shopping opportunities available, whether you want to peruse the tourist offerings of the main Beach Avenue or fancy something a bit more upmarket in the new Biosfera shopping complex. Everything is available from Duty free Electronics equipment, local Arts and Crafts through to Luxury designer clothes and shoes.
Market
Every Friday between 10:00 – 14:00 at Plaza del Varadero – Old Town Harbour. It’s a great opportunity to find local arts & crafts as well as freshly caught fish and seasonal fruit and vegetables.
Things To Do
Book your tickets to The Starlight Cinema to enjoy a comfortable outdoor cinema experience – two feature films per night starting at sunset. Rancho Texas Park is also on the doorstep of Puerto del Carmen,
Eating
Avenida de Las Playas alone boasts over 100 restaurants with menus to suit all tastes and budgets from Fast Food, through to Gourmet menus.
Night Life
Puerto Del Carmen boasts a vibrant nightlife of restaurants cafe’s bars, and clubs around C.C. Atlantico.
You will be able to find an event or venue to suit almost every taste. Men Only Cruise bar XXL Lanzarote is in the C.C. Atlantico.
In PDC, you’re also not far from the famous Music Hall Tavern for a comedy drag evening.
